Surviving MegaCon: A Guide by Mythical Mountain

Hey Loyal Customers! We know MegaCon is this weekend and many of you will be in attendance. We’re a bit jealous since we couldn’t go as well, but hey there’s always next year! On behalf of Mythical Mountain we wanted to provide you with some tips on surviving MegaCon and returning to our Mandarin Mountain top. Check out our tips below!

SURVIVING MEGACON: A GUIDE BY MYTHICAL MOUNTAIN

Stay Hydrated – Either buy or bring water. We recommend bringing your own that you can simply refill throughout the day. Invest in a good, quality water bottle and use it. Seriously they’re like eight bucks on Amazon. MegaCon is crowded and located in one of the hottest spots in the country (Orlando Florida during the end of May!) drinking that surgery soda sounds nice, but trust us, water is the way to go.

Have a Transportation Plan – If you’re one of the lucky ones who found a hotel in walking distance awesome. Still figure out parking beforehand. MegaCon is one of the biggest conventions in the country, it’s now four-days long, figure out where you’re going to park for the weekend and how you’re going to afford it.

If you’re not one of those lucky ones, we’ll pray for you. No, no worries, there’s always public transportation. Make a separate fund for transportation (gas, transport, parking garage) that doesn’t dip into your con fund.

Have a Con Fund – There’s nothing worse than over spending at a convention and realizing you can’t afford to pay the electric bill at the end of the month because you had to get that exclusive Hot Topic Funko Pop of Spider-man signed by Stan Lee. Budget beforehand. We like to separate our funds into this trusty guide:

  • Transportation
  • Food
  • Dealers Room
  • Guests
  • Emergency

Wear Comfortable Shoes – Cosplayers this one is probably not for you. You have to suffer for your craft and we respect that. Everyone else, wear a pair of comfy sneakers or shoes that breath but aren’t open toed. Remember, MegaCon is crowded and your toes are vulnerable unlike Superman’s skin. You’ll be standing, walking, and waiting in line for a majority of your weekend. Please think of your feet.

Ask for Help – The volunteers are there to help you. Most of the time anyway. If you’re lost, need to get to a panel room but the signs are pretty much in gibberish as is the map with its multi-colored blocks, ask for help. Most volunteers will know what they’re talking about and save you precious time. You don’t want to miss that special panel in H Hall because you got lost.

Have Fun – What’s the point of going to a convention if you’re not going to have a good time? Have fun! Meet new people, take a chance and jump into that Paper Girls flash dance ring!
